The Monkey King is a 2014 Hong Kong-Chinese fantasy film directed by
Cheang Pou-soi and starring Donnie Yen given that the titular protagonist. Yen
also presents as the film's action director. Production began in Beijing on 18
October 2010[5] and was filmed in 3d. The plot is based on an episode coming
from all Journey to the West, a Chinese literary classic written in the Ming
Dynasty by Wu Cheng'en. It was considered released on 31 January 2014. A
complete sequel titled The Monkey King secondly was released in February 2016.
When the film was first announced, both Jet Li and Donnie Pound were eyed
for a role. For 18 May 2010, Yen was confirmed to be playing the title aspect
of the Monkey King. Later, them was announced Chow Yun-fat and Aaron Kwok
will be playing the Jade Emperor and Bull Demon King correspondingly. Kwok's
role is said to be breaking methods for being handsome, stylish and opposing for
love.[11] The film was at the outset budgeted at 300 million yuan yet , later
was raised to 400 trillion yuan. Production companies include Filmko, Mandarin

Inc. Michael Wehrhahn, Leader of Global Star Production, Inc, is carrying joined
forces with former Imagine Movies President / Universal Television Icon Robert
Harris in producing and releasing quite high end features for the U.S. and as
well , Asian markets.
